In almost 2 years, Motorola is coming out with the first handset, the Moto G. The phone has been quite popular for its great specs at a lower price. It has 2 variants, the 8GB and 16GB. In US, the phone is priced at $179 (INR 11,200) with 8GB and $199 (INR 12,400) for 16GB. In India however, Flipkart is offering the 8GB variant for INR 12,499 and 16GB variant for INR 13,999. The 16GB variant of Moto G sold out on Flipkart on the very first day within a few hours. The online megastore offered the phone and promoted it via emails and on its homepage which created abuzz among young users.

Motorola was acquired by Google in May 2012 and since then no new products were offered in India. Now, Google has unloaded Motorola on Lenovo which will take over its flagship Moto brand name and all its products. However the phone was expected to have landed in India in January, but better late than never.

The smartphone is expected to give premium experience to its users. A study has shown that around 500 million people globally are looking to buy a smartphone in 2014 and when it comes to getting a high end phone at a reasonable price, Moto G is one of the best choices currently available in the market. Flipkart’s co-founder and CEO, Sachin Bansal said: “For the first time a global brand has tied up with an exclusive online partner in India. This exclusive partnership is also a continuation of our commitment to bring the best to our customers.”
